What's New in AdSec 8.0

Design Codes

The existing design codes have been extended so that AdSec now includes:

  • UK: BS8110: 1997 (2005)
  • USA: ACI 318 and ACI 318M 2002 and 2005
  • Australia: AS 3600 : 2001
  • India: IS 456 : 2000
  • Hong Kong: Hong Kong Code of Practice 2004 (including amendment 1 - 2007)

These include code specific concrete and rebar grades and material curves. ACI strength reduction factors can be calculated from:

  • ACI 318-02 Fig R9.3.2
  • ACI 318-02 Fig RC.3.2
  • ACI 440.2R-02 Fig 9.1 (for sections incorporating FRP)

For the full list of design codes, refer to the Functional Specification

User Material Curves

User material curves are now part of the material data directly rather than through a reference to an external module. This makes it easier to manage the data and allows for user material curves to be extended including concrete materials as well as reinforcement materials.

Interface Enhancements

  • The material tables have been replaced with a material view which presenting materials in a tree style. This provides:
    • Single point of access for all materials.
    • Context sensitive menus.
    • Copy / paste materials.
    • Direct editing using the relevant material wizard.
    • Direct viewing of material curves.
  • Revised material wizards to present all the material data in a more coherent and consistent form.
  • Replacement of the general reinforcement table with reinforcement wizard.
    • Copy reinforcement from wizard in a spreadsheet format for external editing and paste back the results
    • Uses elements common with the reinforcement definition in the New Model Wizard
    • Wizard allows reinforcement to be added & deleted, modified, ?
    • Text format allows for easier cut/paste of reinforcement
    • Intelligent shifting of reinforcement for creating second rows/rings of reinforcement
    • Point, line, arc, circle and (for circular & rectangular sections) perimeter reinforcement can be defined
  • The user defined reinforcement option has been extended to include a perimeter option in addition to single bars, lines, arc and circles.
  • A dockable object viewer has been introduced for display of properties.
  • The template reinforcement has now been extended to include the following section shapes:
    • I section
    • General I section
    • Taper
    • Channel
    • Angle
    • Elliptical
    • Recto-circular
  • There have been a number of enhancements to the Graph views to give you more control over the display of the data
