ADC 8.0 offers the design code option of "Hong Kong Code of Practice 2004". In fact what
is selected by this option is what was previously labelled "BS8110 (Hong Kong)" and is
"Hong Code Code of Practice 1987".
[NCR39] (Fixed 6 September 2005)
-
ADC may crash upon opening files by double-clicking the filename via 'File | Open' or the
'Recent Files' list if the file has a long filename or is held in a deep folder structure.
This bug is avoided if the file is opened instead by selecting it via a single-click, and
then clicking the 'Open' button.
[NCR41] (Fixed 3 November 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.6.0)
-
ADC's 'About Dialog' fails to list all of the program's components.
[NCR42] (Fixed 4 November 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.6.0)
-
Formatting scientific values to n significant figures may produce errors (e.g. 8.99999 to

ADC 8.0 Build 6: Fixes — AdBeam
-
AdBeam crashes when a user load factor is deleted from the input data.
[NCR17] (Fixed 4 April 2005; released in AdcData.dll 8.0.5)
-
AdBeam may fail to present the full list of warnings/errors upon attempting a design,
though the design results are unavailable - indicating that design has not been
performed.
[NCR19] (Fixed 8 April 2005; released in AdBeam.dll 8.0.5.0)
-
The setting to include beam self weight is saved when set in the General Specification
dialog, but not when set in the Load Details page of the New Model Wizard.
[NCR25] (Fixed 12 May 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.5.0 and AdcData.dll 8.0.6.0)
-
When designing a solid slab AdBeam invites the user to enter a side cover unnecessarily.
[NCR18] (Fixed 17 May 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.6.0)
-
ADC does not check correctly whether the maximum shear in a beam exceeds the BS8110 limit
of 0.8 x √fcu or 5N/mm2. It checks the shear at a distance 'd'
from supports rather that at the supports.
[NCR26] (Fixed 6 May 2005; released in AdBeam.dll 8.0.6.0)
-
The online help incorrectly suggests that the user has control over whether 'd' should
be used when determining the position of the shear check.
[NCR27] (Fixed 31 May 2005)
-
Designs that contained bunched bars in ADC 7.2 may fail to be achieved in ADC 8.0. The
warning 'Error in beam design' may be shown.
[NCR29] (Fixed 7 June 2005; released in AdBeam.dll 8.0.5.0)
-
AdBeam may fail to analyse a model, or may even crash, due to unitialised materials. This problem
occurs when the Section Wizard is used in the 'span and support details' page of the New Model
Wizard to enter upper or lower column sections. To avoid the problem either (a) enter the
section descriptions directly without clicking the 'Section' button (but instead by typing e.g.
'STD R 300 300') or (b) upon completion of the New Model Wizard, initialise the
materials by opening the materials dialog from the program's gateway, and clicking 'OK'.
[NCR31] (Fixed 24 June 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.5.0)
-
The 'Notional Loads' table view shows a column 'Direction'. This is not necessary, since the
sign of the load indicates its direction.
[NCR34] (Fixed 24 June 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.6.0)
-
It should be possible to click the 'standard' or 'user-defined' title in the gateway and have
the already opened table view change the active tab. This does is not functioning correctly
for the 'Load Factors' and 'Load Combinations' tables.
[NCR35] (Fixed 24 June 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.6.0)
-
AdBeam may give misleading solutions for a beam that is unreinforceable e.g. it may suggest a
solution of T16 bars when the maximum bar size is limited to 50 mm, but appear to fail to
find the same solution when the maximum bar size is 80 mm. AdBeam has in fact failed to
recognise that the section was unreinforceable in both cases.
[NCR37] (Fixed 14 July 2005; released in AdBeam.dll 8.0.6.0)
-
AdBeam may recommend solutions whose longitudinal reinforcement in tension is spaced at more
than the maximum allowed by the design code or the reinforcement detailing manual.
[NCR38] (Fixed 8 August 2005; released in AdBeam.dll 8.0.6.0)
-
The Loads table in the Output View shows the values of the loads but not their positions. The values
are mis-aligned with their column headers.
[NCR40] (Fixed 13 September 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.6.0)
-
The Wizard button should be disabled for the Redistribution table if redistribution results are
available, and for the Covers table if design results are available.
[NCR43] (Fixed 9 November 2005)
-
AdBeam may crash when designing a flat slab or ribbed slab after installing the patch version 8.0.6.0
of AdBeam.dll.
[NCR44] (Fixed 10 November 2005; released in AdRib.dll 8.0.5.0 and AdSlab.dll 8.0.5.0)

ADC 8.0 Build 6: Fixes — AdCol
-
If the required cover is not a multiple of 5 mm, then AdCol should round it up
to the nearest 5 mm. However, in some circumstances AdCol may add 5 mm to the cover
unnecessarily if the minimum cover is 40 mm or more.
[NCR20] (Fixed 17 May 2005; released in AdBeam.dll 8.0.5.1)
-
If the user switches from biaxial bending to uniaxial bending in AdCol, then Mzz moments
should be disabled and ignored. This adjustment may not always be made, so design moments
may show a moment about the z axis, and axial force/moment charts may show a moment angle
not equal to 0 degrees.
[NCR21] (Fixed 17 May 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.5.0 and AdcData.dll 8.0.6.0)
-
AdCol gives incorrent results when a user defined reinforcement or concrete materials
are used.
[NCR36] (Fixed 7 July 2005; released in Adc.exe 8.0.5.0)
-
ADC corrects the sign of column moment results incorrectly when reading and writing via AdExport
during automated testing. This affects comparisons of test results only, and not results
that are evident to the user via the program's interface.
[NCR46] (Fixed 10 November 2005; released in AdExport.dll 8.0.5.0)

ADC 8.0 Build 4: Fixes
ADC 8.0 Build 4: Fixes — AdBeam
-
The Output View fails to display the load factors for combinations in the Prescribed
Load Combinations and User Load Combinations tables.
[NCR12] (Fixed 9 December 2004)
-
Program help contains a beam design example whose diagram, text and input data
are inconsistent.
[NCR13] (Fixed 11 December 2004)
-
The user-specified factor to be applied to the area of reinforcement is applied
incorrectly to the bottom, mid-span reinforcement always, rather than to all tension
reinforcement. It is also applied to areas of shear links. This bug-fix removes
this factor altogether.
[NCR14] (Fixed 16 February 2005)
-
ADC may propose a design that has longitudinal bar sizes that are
smaller than the user-specified minimum.

ADC 8.0 Build 1: Fixes
ADC 8.0 Build 1: Fixes — General
-
ADC crashes when trying to create an output view for
a model with notional loads.
[NCR 1]
-
The design stage may give inconsistent bar sizes in spans over and immediately
either side of columns.
[NCR 2]
-
The area of reinforcement required at the ends of slabs
that are supported by beams may be calculated incorrectly using a lever
arm based on the depth of the supporting beam. The effective depth at these points
may be reported incorrectly.
[NCR5]
-
Span/Effective Depth calculations may give incorrect results when hogging
moments produce a greater requirement for tension reinforcement than do sagging
moments at the relevant position of the beam or slab.
[NCR6]
-
The reported value of Basic Span/Effective Depth Ratio for cantilevered beams with
non-rectangular sections may be incorrect.
[NCR8]
-
When a data file that contains a beam with a General I Section is opened
the width of the bottom flange is set to the width of the top
flange.
[NCR9]
-
Structures with final spans supported by both (a) an upper column whose end condition
is encastre and (b) a lower column whose end condition is pinned, may be analysed
incorrectly as pinned at both ends.
[NCR10]
-
AdSlab reloads the default bar spacings when a data file is opened, thus adding these
to any spacings previously set by the user.
